Brief Bio for James:

James has worked in the travel industry for over 42 years and has been involved in the leisure, corporate, group, sport, incentive & wholesale genres. With partners he established French Travel Connection/Get Set Travel in Sydney in the early 90’s before moving to Brisbane and working on large projects such as Rugby World Cup and other major sporting events.

Along with his cousin John Bougen, James is the holder of the Guinness World Record for traveling to the most sovereign nations on a single journey…. 197 nations in 167 days and undertaken between August 2002 and February 2003. On this journey James discovered Bhutan, India & Nepal and instantly fell in love with the south Asia/eastern Himalaya region in general. The rest is history.

James loves rugby union, and keenly supports the Queensland Reds and the Australian Wallabies.

Brief Bio for Nicola:

Nicola has a history of Practice Management in the specialist Dental industry however in 2006 was enticed by James to gradually leave dentistry & assist with the growth of their south Asia product. Nicola has added her unique skills to quickly grow the business over the last 15 years and she too adores Bhutan, India & Nepal which is very evident in her rapport with past and present customers.

Nicola has also shown great aptitude for new product development and keeping our website up to date.

Nicola loves to keep fit, having previously worked as an Aerobics instructor.

In mid-June 2022 the Bhutanese Government introduced a new ‘Tourism Amendment Bill’ into their parliament, and legislation was passed soon after. This was designed to change the course of tourism in Bhutan and make it a more exclusive destination. It has increased the cost of Bhutan tour packages and the Kingdom is currently more suitable for the luxury demographic of travellers.
