In mid-June 2022 the Bhutanese Government introduced a new ‘Tourism Amendment Bill’ into their parliament, and legislation was passed soon after. This was designed to change the course of tourism in Bhutan and make it a more exclusive destination. The Tourism amendment bill which included a US$200.00 per person per night was repealed from 31 May 2023, further simplified from 31 August 2023 to US$100.00 per person per night and will not be revised again until 31 AUG 2027.
