Bhutan is a MUST for your bucket list!
10 Reasons to put Bhutan on your bucket list. Pt 2.
James, founder of Bhutan & Beyond, owes his cousin John Bougen (JB) a motza!
In JAN02 JB asked James if it were possible to travel to every country in the world (and as fast as possible). James said “of course”. JB said “Right, let’s do it. You help me plan and control the reservations and I’m paying!” It was named ‘The All Nations Quest’ and the proceeds from two books went to support ‘Save the Children’.
So, two intrepid gentlemen set off 7 months later in AUG02, armed with 3 passports each (and a stack of visas) returning 6 months later in MAR03. Oh, and with 3 Guinness World Records under our belts. Furthermore, what about our air tickets! OMG, those were still the days of paper tickets and each ticket in the image above had 4 flight coupons. Plus there were plenty more we bought en-route.
James Discovers Bhutan.
After setting foot in 191 nations, in just 167 days, James voted Bhutan his most favourite stop/destination by far. So, on returning from ‘The Quest’ James flew with wife Nicola back up to Bhutan immediately. A contract to represent Bhutan’s oldest inbound tour operator, BTCL, was agreed upon and that little beauty is now nearly 19 years old.
Because Bhutan is a true privilege to visit, it has never disappointed and remains one of the very few destinations that is ‘not touristy’, yet so unique, wondrous, safe and welcoming. GO THERE!
